Chapter Six
"You..u..r ex?" Chinen stammered every word, trying to make sure that he had heard correctly. Aiko darted her eyes from side to side, before Hiroyuki walked up, and spoke to Aiko. "A..Aiko, want to go somewhere and chat?" Aiko looked at him, and nodded her head slightly.
"Chinen, I'm.. I'm going off then, I'll contact you any sooner," Aiko then waved her hand, before hurriedly following Hiroyuki. Chinen clenched his fist. Aiko? That guy called Aiko by her first name. Is he really Aiko's ex? Then.. what happened between them?
"It's been awhile, ne?" Hiroyuki broke the silence between them. Aiko lifted her head, and looked at Hiroyuki. He looked the same, his gentle face, his sweet voice, his everything. Aiko smiled in her heart, as she hurriedly answered Hiroyuki's question. "Yea, it's been one year,"
"How.. How have you been?" Hiroyuki asked, as he sipped his drink. Aiko fiddled with her hair end, before answering, "I'm fine," Both of them kept quiet, silence was killing them. "What.. What are you doing in Japan?"
"Ah, my family came here for a holiday," Hiroyuki answered. "I was just on the way back to the hotel, when I spotted you," Aiko nodded her head. She doesn't know what to answer to Hiroyuki. The atmosphere could kill her anytime. "Are you doing fine?" Aiko just nodded her head. Hiroyuki then went back to sip his drink. Then, he realised his drink have finished. Must be that he was too nervous, until he drank finish everything without realizing. Finally, Hiroyuki stood up, "It's getting late, I think I must get going,"
Aiko stood up, "Sure," Both of them walked out of the cafe, without uttering a word. "So, I'll see you again soon, ri--" Before Hiroyuki could complete his sentence, a person pounced onto his back. "AH! Suzu!"
Aiko's eyes widened. How did Hiro know who was it even before getting to see that person? Aiko's heart clenched into a fist, as she got a bad feeling something that she doesn't want to hear is going to be conveyed to her.
"Suzu! Get down me," Hiroyuki said, as he grabbed the hands that was around his shoulders. The girl looks younger than me. One year younger?
"Ah, Aiko, this is Suzuno. Kirimachi Suzuno," Hiroyuki introduced, as he patted Suzu's head, smiling brightly. This was the first time that Aiko have seen Hiroyuki smiling so brightly.
"Konichiwa! I'm Suzuno desu! I'm Hiro's girlfriend!" She then smiled so sweetly, giving Aiko a twist sign. Hiroyuki hurriedly covered Suzuno's mouth, but of course, not in time for him to stop her from telling Aiko the fact. Aiko, did not want Hiroyuki to know she still likes him, after this one year. She tried to smile, "Oh! Congrats Hiro!" Suzuno then darted a dirty look to Aiko. It must be because Aiko called Hiroyuki, 'Hiro'. Aiko then turned around, and walked away, trying to act normal.
"Hiro! Who was that girl!?" Suzuno demanded an explaination. Why is there another person calling Hiroyuki , Hiro like she did? "She's my ex, it's over already, Suzu. I don't like her anymore," Hiroyuki said, as he glanced at Aiko's backview, before holding onto Suzu's hand, and walking away.
Aiko walked for quite a distance, before she realized she was lost. Whe.. Where is she? She looked around, except for the road, she recognized nothing. She plunged to the floor, tears flowing down from her eyes uncontrollably. To think, to think she had loved Hiro for so long, and everything could just be forgotten by him within a short span of one year. What is she to Hiro?
Grabbing out her phone, her hands were shivering. She went into her phonebook and scrolled down. She pressed onto the call button of her phone. The phone ringed.
"Moshi, moshi.." the other end answered. "R..Riko-chan?"
"Aiko? Um.. I'm busy right now, can you call me back later?" Riko's voice was stern, and serious. Aiko clenched her fist tightly, stopping her tears from flowing down. "O..O--" Even before Aiko wanted to agree, Riko cut the line off. Aiko felt helpless, as she was still kneeling on the ground, her tears falling from her eyes.
On the other side, why did Riko sounded so stern?
"Eh!? Chinen-san and Aiko left us here?!" Riko shouted into the microphone when Yuto put down the phone that Chinen have called few minutes ago. "Riko! Chill down!" Yuto called, as he took the microphone away from Riko. "So.. Sorry Yuto-kun!"
"Let's go then!" Yuto said, as he grabbed the girl away from the karaoke, although she was kind of reluctant to leave the karaoke. No, not because she want to sing, but because she loved hearing Yuto's awesome-fabolous-magnificient voice in the microphone. "Yuto-kun, where are we going?" Riko pouted. Yuto giggled, "You'll know soon,"
The familiar place. Yuto's bright smile was visible on his face. Riko's heart was feeling hurt, and pain. Why did Yuto always come here, to this cafe to visit Yamada when they're dating?
"Yama-chan!" Yuto called out. Yamada, who was serving a customer turned around and widened his eyes when he saw Yuto approaching him, with his hand helding onto Riko's. Yamada grabbed Yuto by the collar and brought him over to the counter. "What the hell are you doing here again!?"
"I'm here to visit you!" Yuto brimmed. Riko's eyes was darted to the other side. Yamada sighed, and thinking there wasn't so many customers at this timing, he went into the kitchen and got out Riko's and Yuto's favourite drinks to serve them. "Yuto-kun, your orange juice," he paused, walked over to where Riko is, and placed her drink right in front of her. "Here, Takasugi-san, your Chocolate mafia," Riko faced up, and realized Yamada was smiling to her. Her heart softened, she can't possibly hate this boy in front of her, can she? Yamada then pouted himself a cup of water, and settled down beside the chair of Riko's. Just then, Riko felt a hand fall onto her shoulder. She jolted, and turned up, when she realised a man of around few years older than her, his hands was around her shoulder, the other hand was around Yamada's right shoulder.
"Hey hey, both of you are cute, why not come with Onii-chan?" that older man sneered.
Riko was shaking with fear. Yamada grabbed the man's hand, but instead, Yamada's hands were locked behind his back. While the man was doing this, his eyes never failed to get off Riko. Yuto, who was standing beside them, stared at the man. The older man realise it, and looked over.
"Get your hands off them, Oji-san," Yuto's eyes could kill.
The older man laughed. "What can you do about me then, brat?" He twisted Yamada's hand more, making Yamada screamed in pain. The other customers in the cafe have started to run away from the cafe. Nobody would like to be caught in such a situation.
The older man's hand was still around Riko's shoulders. "Yu.. Yuto-kun.. Help me," Riko begged. Riko looked over to Yuto, yet, his eyes were instilled onto Yamada, who was crying in pain. His tears by then rolled down his cheeks. Riko kept quiet. The older man hands then moved, which then became around her neck. It was so tight, making her breathless.
Yuto in a flash ran towards the older man, and punched him into the stomach, kicked his leg, and boxed his face. Everything happened so fast, and the next moment, the older man was kneeling on the floor, holding onto his eyes in pain. He got up, and ran out of the cafe. Riko finally was released from the grasp of the older man, as she plunged onto the floor, holding onto her neck, coughing, while she tried catching for more air.
Yuto ran towards Yamada on instinct. "Yama-chan! You okay?" Yuto asked. Yamada use on his hand to hold onto his left wrist. His hands were shivering, "It hurts, Yu-kun,"
Riko's eyes widened. She turned around, 'Yu-kun?' Did Yamada called Yuto Yu-kun? The next moment that revealed in front of her eyes, was like something that she never wanted it to happen. Yuto placed one of his hand behind Yamada's head, and brought him towards his chest. "Yama-chan, it's okay, I'm here,"
Struggling to get up on her own, Riko got up, and with staggering steps, she slowly walked out of the cafe, with her existence long forgotten by Yuto. Just then, her phone rang.
"Moshi moshi?" Riko answered. "R..Riko-chan?" Aiko's voice was heard.
Riko didn't want to talk anyone at all, not at this timing. "Aiko? Um.. I'm busy right now, can you call me back later?" Before Aiko could respond, Riko hanged up the phone. Looking back into the cafe, with Yamada still in the embrace of Yuto, she controlled her tears, before limping her way back to her apartment.
