“Riko! Kento! Come over here!” Yuto’s voice was heard, as the two people turned, and realized that Yuto was waving his hand frantically. Giving a questioned look to each other, both of them stood up, and walked over towards them.
“Yabu-kun have brought over some snacks, you both eat some too!” Yamada commented, as he grabbed a box, and shoved it to both of them. Both of them attempted to take hold of it, when they accidentally touched each other surface skin. Riko retracted her hand quickly, as she felt like electricity have run through her whole body. Her face was flushed red, and all Kento did was stand there, and shoved his head away.
Yamada and Yuto stood at the side and nibbled on their snacks. Looking at the pair in front of them, they giggled to each other, they knew something is about to happen.
Aiko stood at the side of the road, placing her hair behind her ear, as she felt the cold breeze blew past her. Hiroyuki have gone off to settle his other matters, and he had dropped Aiko off at the side. She didn’t feel like going home just yet. “I’ll probably walked around first,” she smiled to herself, as she sling her bag across her shoulder, and started walking down.
Just then, the sky started to get darker, and the raindrops started pouring down. Aiko started to use her bag as a shelter for herself, as she ran, while trying to find a place to cover herself. She passed by a street, and a corner. Suddenly, she felt her legs numb, and she ran towards the corner, and patted the water away from her clothing. She shivered, and crouched herself up.
“Saito-kun,” Aiko called Hiroyuki’s phone number, but it was send to the voice-mail. She settled there, as she waited for the rain to get smaller.
She rose up her head, and she saw a figure walking in the rain, his head was facing up the sky. She continued to observe the figure as he slowly walked pass her. “What an idiot,” she murmured. The figure stopped in his track, and fall to his knees. Aiko’s eyes widened. She can’t leave that guy alone, right? That’s too terrible. Sighing, she walked up, and use her bag to cover the figure’s head.
“Hey! Don’t stand out here, it’s raining heavily, come in here!” she called out; while she dragged the boy up, and brought him towards the corner she was hiding. Taking her bag towards her front, she digged for a hankerchief. She folded it into a square, and dried the guy’s head.
“Come on! Raise your head up, you’re going to catch a cold, seriously!” She lifted up his head, and slowly dried the wet hair. The face was revealed after a short while, as she gasped in shock.
“Chi… Chinen-kun!” She blurted out. Chinen stopped dazing, and looked at the girl. “Sugihara-san?” “What.. What are you doing in the rain!?” Aiko shouted, flicking his forehead. “That was totally bad! You could get sick!”
“I’m sorry..” Chinen mumbled, as he crouched himself up, and buried his head between. “I’m sorry, Aiko,” Aiko was definitely taken aback with Chinen calling her by her first name, but she didn’t mind it at all. She settled down, and smiled, as she observed the raindrops slowly falling onto the ground.
“Chii!” Riko called out, as she flapped her hands. Chinen caught sight and ran towards her. “Ah, sorry, I’m late,”
“It’s okay!” Riko said, as she slightly patted his shoulders, before they went into the cafeteria to find the others.
“Riko! Here!” Yuto called out. Riko looked around, and dragged Chinen towards the table. Yuto and other others all have their foods in front of them. Yet, they’ve not started eating, even when Chinen have settled down. “Um, why are you all not eating?” Chinen asked, looking at them, and their foods. Kento shrugged his shoulders, while Riko asked Chinen to keep quiet, with her eyes fixed at the entrance.
The door of the cafeteria opening could be heard. When the face was revealed, Riko stood up. “Sugihara-san! Here!”
Chinen widened his eyes when he heard the name. He turned around, and faced Aiko. “Ah, sorry that I’m late!” Aiko quickly settled down into the seat beside Chinen. “Good morning, Chinen-kun!”
Yuto and Yamada eyed Chinen. Since when did Aiko started called Chinen, ‘-kun’? Something must be happening. Aiko looked back at Chinen, not turning away, as if waiting for something.
“Good morning.. Aiko,” Chinen murmured, as he hurriedly took up his utensils and started eating his breakfast. “Itadakimasu,”
Riko smiled, and probed nothing further. Aiko was eating her food happily, when her phone ring.
“Hello? Ah! Saito-kun!” Aiko brimmed when she heard the caller’s voice. She excused herself away from the table, and went to the side to pick up the phone.
“Chii! What did you do to her yesterday?” Riko asked. She is really the curious person, and she won’t stop until she knows everything. Chinen sighed, he knew he could not get away with this, not when RIko have asked him. Chinen slowly told them everything, from where he got caught by Aiko to stay in the shelter. Riko’s mouth shaped into an oval, and said nothing further.
Chinen looked at the three who was in front of him, and Kento who was at the seat of his row. He locked both of his hands together, and placed his elbow onto the table. “I think that, I’m going to try to woo her one more time,”
Riko dropped her bread onto her plate, and she widened her eyes. “What do you mean, one more time? You’re going to start again? Even though she’ve forgotten you?”
Chinen smiled, and he looked at Yuto and Yamada. “You both didn’t give up right? Even though Yuto was with Riko at that time,” Yuto looked to Riko, and Riko looked towards Kento.
“I’m not giving up, because I really love Aiko. Even if she can’t remember that she love me, I believe one day, I’ll touch her heart with my love again,”
“Chinen! I support you!” Yamada shouted, giving him a thumb-up sign. Riko shrugged her shoulders, and smiled. “Alright, if that’s your decision, I’ll support you too!”
“Thanks guys!” Chinen beamed. That was the first time Chinen has felt real happy ever since Aiko transferred over to his school.
“Sorry guys, it was Saito-kun. He’s departing next week,” Aiko mumbled, a trail of loneliness seen on her. Chinen patted her back. “It’s okay! If you don’t mind, you can hang out with us, we’re gladly to welcome you!”
Riko nodded her head in agreement. Aiko looked, from Yamada, to Yuto, to Riko. She turned, and looked at Chinen, and Kento.
“Thanks everybody!” Aiko giggled, and got up her breakfast and eat.
“See you later, Chinen-kun!” Aiko waved her hands, until Chinen went forward. “Ne, Sugihara-san, can I call you by your first name?” Riko asked. Aiko turned towards her. What’s with the sudden question? “You know, since we’re hanging out with each other,”
“I’m fine, Riko-chan!”
“Aiko-chan!” Riko greeted back, tears was seen at the tip of her eyes, as she hugged the said girl who was standing in front of her. She had missed her smile, her voice.
Yuto and Yamada looked at each other, before they went off to class first.
“Yama-chan, it’s glad for Chinen thought it over, ne?” Yuto commented, his hands over Yamada’s shoulders. Yamada nodded. “I hope Aiko-chan remembers him sooner though. They’ve went through so much.. And those memories..”
“Aiko-chan? Since when you’ve called her by her first name?” Yuto asked, looking down to the older boy. “Eh? I’ve always wanted to call her that. But even if I wanted, I didn’t have the chance to,”
“Well, it’s good for you now, right?”
Yamada nodded his head, as he quickly gave a peck on the cheeks for Yuto. “Yu-kun, thanks for staying beside me all these times, I’m glad I have you,”
“Me too, Yama-chan,”
“Takasugi-san, it’s lesson time! If we don’t go, we’re going to be late!” Kento patted Riko’s shoulders, and tried dragging her away from Aiko’s embrace. Aiko released the hug, and realized she was been the ‘lightbulb’. Hurriedly, she took her bag and ran forward to find the other pair, or not, she’ll walk to class herself.
“Takasugi-san! Takasugi! RIKO-CHAN!” Kento shouted. The last call made Riko regained from her dazziness, and she looked back to Kento. “You.. called me, Riko-chan?”
“Ah! I’m sorry, it was out of exasperation,” Kento apologized, as he scratched his head. “I’m sorry that you didn’t like it,”
“It’s not that!” Riko retorted. Kento looked down to the girl, and slowly, he walked towards her, and grabbed hold of her hands. “Riko-chan,” his voice slowly got absorbed into Riko’s ears. She looked up, with her face flushing red.
“Idiot!” she shouted, as she used all her might to push Kento away from her. Her heart was beating hard and fast when Kento was near. So near that, she could nearly die from fast heart-beats.
Kento have retracted, and fall to the ground, his bottom hitting onto the floor. “OUCH! Riko-chan! That hurts!”
Riko looked at him, and giggled. Picking up her bag, and walked away.
“That’s your fault for making me go crazy for you like this,” Riko whispered, with Kento chasing her behind.
