“Aiko-chan!” Chinen called when he spotted Aiko during his lunch break. Aiko turned around, to be faced with Chinen. “Chinen-kun!”
“Where are you heading to?” Chinen have asked, looking at the said girl in front of him. “Actually..” she murmured, and slowly leaned down towards Chinen. This made Chinen back off a bit, but Aiko stopped him and leaning closer and closer, her mouth was now situated near his ears.
“I’m skipping lessons,”
Chinen widened his eyes, and when Aiko stood back, Chinen stared at her. He tried controlling his laughter, and he puffed out some chuckles. “Alright, do you need a partner?”
He leaned down, and whispered into Aiko’s ear. “It’s boring for my lessons too,”
Aiko smiled, and nodded her head. Chinen and pulled her, and they both ran out of the campus. “AHAHA! Nobody will catch us!” Chinen screamed, as he swing his arms around. “Oh man! Since when did I last skipped lessons like this? I think the last time was in high school!” He exclaimed out loud.
Aiko laughed. “That’s great, at least you have memories, I have none,”
“Why not we go and create memories together now?” Chinen looked at her and stretched out her hands. Aiko smiled, and placed her hand onto Chinen’s hand, and nodded her head. “But, Chinen-kun, where are we going?” Aiko asked.
Chinen turned back. “Secret, just follow me. I’ll bring you to the place where most of my memories are at,”
Chinen have held onto Aiko’s hand tightly, and brought her to a place that she didn’t know. Wait, correction. Is not that she didn’t know, is she have forgotten about it.
“Here,” Chinen pointed. The building in front of them revealed. It was a white building, with some blue walls painted. Chinen have brought Aiko to the side of the school- Chinen’s high school. He climbed over the fence, and held out his hand. “Come on!” Aiko grabbed onto his hand, and climbed over the fence. The nice breezes pass by her.
“Follow me, questions to be saved for later,” Chinen smiled. Aiko quietly followed Chinen, her hand still tightly held onto his.
“Here, we’ve reached!” Chinen said, as he opened his arms, and turned around in circles. He then finally found a spot near the walls, and settled down. “Chinen-kun..” Aiko whispered.
“Yes?” Chinen have closed his eyes, and enjoyed the wind.
“I have come here before, it was the first time I met you right?”
Chinen widened his eyes, and looked at Aiko. Oh, that time, when she first told him that sentence. The sentence still echoed in his head.
“Do I know you?”
Chinen smiled at Aiko, as a form of agreeing. “Chinen-kun, you know me?”
“Aiko? Of course I know, that’s a silly question,”
“Nono! I mean, in the past..” Aiko murmured, as she walked over to the fence, and looked down. Chinen stood up, and walked over to the fence. “Aiko, I..”
Aiko by then have clutched the side of her face, and bended down. “I don’t understand.. I want to remember, but I can’t remember..” her tears slowly flowing down from her eyes. “I…”
Chinen clenched his fist, and slowly hugged her. He then whispered, “It’s okay, everything is over now, there is nothing to worry about, I am here,”
Déjà vu.
Where.. Where did Aiko heard that sentence before? She grasped her hair tighter, as she felt the sentence flowing inside her friend.
“… I am here,”
Bits and pieces of memories flashed pass her. First, was an image of two person hands interlaced tightly, and next, was a girl’s head resting on a guy’s shoulders. The clothing they wore.. it was definitely the uniform of this school.
“Aiko? Aiko?” Chinen called out. Aiko didn’t respond. Chinen grabbed tightly onto Aiko’s shoulders. She was nearly fainting. “Ai-chan! AI-CHAN!”
Aiko fall into darkness.
“Hurry! Prepare Sugihara Aiko patient document and send it over to Doctor Tanabe, also, send in—“the doctor was ordering the nurses to do everything that was necessary. Chinen was running beside the bed, he felt that something more is going to happen. Why did he have an insecure feeling?
“Young lad, this is the limit, please wait outside,” the doctor have pushed Chinen out of the room, and closed the door. The red light was on, and everything happened the next few moments seemed like it was hell for Chinen.
“Chinen-kun!” A voice was heard, and Chinen turned back.
Saito Hiroyuki.
“Saito..” Chinen murmured, when he got nearer. “What happened to Aiko? What did you DO!?” Hiroyuki have pushed Chinen to the wall, and grabbed him by the collar. “EXPLAIN!”
“I did nothing!” Chinen retorted, biting his lips, controlling the tears from falling down. Letting go one of the right hand, he punched the spot of the wall that was beside Chinen. “IF THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH AIKO, I’LL NOT LET YOU GO!”
Just then, running footsteps could be heard, and the next moment, Yamada was on one side, and Yuto was on the other. Following behind, were Riko and Kento. Yuto had grabbed Hiroyuki on one arm, while Yamada on the other arm.
“Saito! Stop it! It’s the hospital!” Yuto shouted, pulling him away from the boy. Riko have went forward to helped Chinen up to the chair. Kento sat beside Chinen, and passed him a bottle of water. Yamada didn’t care if Hiroyuki was hurt, he pushed Hiroyuki hard onto the wall, and smacked him on the face.
“Stop fighting! This is not the time to fight! Aiko-chan is fighting inside!” Yamada shouted, controlling his tears from flowing down from his eyes. Yuto hugged Yamada from the back, and whispered into his ears. “Yama-chan, it’s okay. I’m here, don’t cry,”
Yamada clenched his fist.
The red light went off, and the doctor came out. Chinen rushed up to the doctor. “How is Aiko?”
Hiroyuki slowly walked over, and looked at the doctor. “Did Tanabe-sensei say anything?”
The doctor looked at Hiroyuki, and sighed. “Maybe you should ask him, he’s coming out. And, tell your friends, they’ve the rights to know what’s wrong with Aiko-chan,”
Hiroyuki patted the doctor on the shoulders. “I will,”
The person, who followed behind, was an older doctor. He wore spectacles, and his hair was grey. He walked out, and saw Hiroyuki. “Ah! Saito! You’re back,”
“Tanabe-sensei, how’s Aiko?”
“She’s fine, don’t worry. Just..”
“Just?”
“She’ll be unconscious for a moment. You know, her illness,”
“Thanks,”
“Visit her tomorrow, she needs rest,”
Hiroyuki nodded his head, and bowed down as the doctor leave. The others did so. Hiroyuki then settled down onto the chair, and tightened both of his hands together tightly.
“Saito, what’s wrong?” Chinen asked, coming over towards Hiroyuki.
“Tell us!” Yuto demanded, his hands over Yamada’s shoulders.
Saito said nothing. He stood up, and walked up towards the lift, and the door closed.
“Then, I’ll go back now, I’ll come back tomorrow,” Riko said, as she left with Kento. Yamada and Yuto have decided to stay in the hospital for awhile more, making sure Aiko is alright before they leave. Chinen was persuaded by the YamaJima pair to have a rest at home, before he stops by tomorrow.
“Kento-kun..” Riko mumbled, while she settled down on the bench of the garden downstairs at the hospital. “Riko-chan, what’s wrong?” Kento walked towards where Riko was seating, and settled down beside her. The wind blew, and Kento took out his coat, and placed it over Riko.
“You’ll catch a cold,”
A tear dripped down Riko’s eyes, and Kento hurriedly wiped it away. “Kento, I..” Riko mumbled again. Kento placed his hands over her shoulders, and towards her head. Slowly, he pushed her head down onto his shoulders.
“Riko, it’s alright. Sugihara-san would be fine. She’s strong, don’t worry,”
Riko have grabbed hold onto Kento’s hand. “It’s not that, Kento. I’m worried that… no, it’s not that I’m worried. I have a bad feeling that something real big is about to happen,”
“Don’t worry, even if something big happens, I’ll be here to protect you,”
“Then.. who will protect Aiko-chan?”
“Chinen-kun will,”
“I’m afraid he doesn’t have.. no, is not I’m saying bad about him.. It’s just a feeling of mine,”
Riko looked up, and she was facing Kento. “Promise me, protect Aiko-chan when she’s in trouble,”
“You trust me so much?”
Riko nodded her head. “I will, Riko. But I’ll protect you first. That, you won’t stop me, right?”
Riko smiled, as a tear flowed down again. “I won’t, Kento,”
