Author's Note: this is dedicated to aby-chan, and i also want to thank her for listening to my rants and stuffs like that. :) (oh, and i realized that i have somehow fallen in love with writing of flashbacks after I've seen various writers style)
"Why can't you know how much I love you?" he said, as he grabbed onto his hands, and gazed into his eyes. "Tegoshi, believe me, one day, i'll break up with her, and get with you, trust me,"
Nothing was better than this. Having a friend to be there for you, always supporting you, even if, you're a sick person.
"Ai?" a voice called and the petite fragile figure that was lying on the bed, her face pale and white. "Ta..Taka-kun,"
Her small and soft voice was shivering as she spoke. The boy slowly walked up to her, and took a chair before he placed his hands onto hers. "Ai, you alright?"
The girl forced a smile and nodded her head. The breadths she took were heavy and hard, as though she have just finished climbing a mountain, and collapsed at the tip of it. But it wasn't. The girl, just sat there from day to night, without fail, she have always, sat there, not been able to move from her bed.
If a normal person did that, even if that person is healthy, that person will have likely have an illness or something. But she wasn't a normal person.
Sugihara Aiko. Since young, she have always been that any other normal kid you see on the street. When she was four years old, she got into an accident, and got half-body paralyzed. The doctor said that there was nothing he could do anymore, and she will need to be wheelchair and bed bounded for the rest of her life.
"Need anything?" he asked, as he places one of his hands onto her cheeks. "I'm okay, Taka-kun..." she whispered again, as she smiled bitterly.
A knock on the door was heard, and a middle-aged lady came into the room, with a tray on her hand. The nicely cook mushroom soup, a toast, and an orange juice.
"Sugi-chan, here is your breakfast. Taka-chan, thanks for coming over. Do you want anything?"
"Thanks oba-san, but I am fine," the boy said before he took the tray over from the lady, and rolled the movable table over to Aiko. "Thank you Taka-kun," the girl whispered softly.
All the boy did was just patting her head.
Takahisa Masuda. They have been childhood friends since they were young, and when Aiko had the accident, it was Masuda who called the ambulance. Just at the young age of four, he saved her live. If she were sent in late, she would have died.
Every time when that lady comes in, Masuda just realized that she had a solemn face, always worried for her daughter. But no matter what, Aiko just plants a smile onto her face, telling everyone that she's fine. Aiko doesn't have many friends, and her only friend was Masuda.
He would always comes back and tell her his life in school, how nice it will be if Aiko is there with him. "Unless I can float in the air, and people don't look at me with weird eyes, I don't mind going to school. I have Taka-kun with me,"
He wonder how can a cheerful and kind girl like Aiko get such a thing happening to her?

"So.. Where do you want to go?" she asked as he held onto his hands, and smiled. "Anywhere is fine," he replied before patting the girl's head. "Hm.. Let's go for a movie then," the girl said as she dragged him. The boy just smiled and went along.
"Tego-kun! Look!" the girl exclaimed, and the guy turned. It was a performance stage with the words 'NEWS' on it. "No way! NEWS is coming here to perform their new single 'LIVE'!"
The guy called Tego smiled. "I'll bring you here when it started alright?" he promised. The girl just smiled, and they walked off.
“Abby Rose Flores, congratulations on getting the top for the Humanities Common Test once again,” the lecturer announced before he clapped, and followed by the other students inside the hall. Some looked at her with envious eyes, while some gave the oh-i-expected-it-is-her face.
Abby stood up and walked in front to where the lecturer is standing. She took her paper, and looked at the result, before she forced a smile, and walked back to her seat.
“How I wish I wasn’t that clever, so that I could have more friends, why I wonder?” she mumbled to herself, her heart clenching slightly.
As she left the classroom, that figure was already standing outside the lecture hall, waiting for a particular girl to arrive. “Abby!” the voice called. The girl turned and looked at him, before she ran into his embrace. “Tego-kun!” she exclaimed, her hands locking themselves up around his shoulders. “Thanks for coming,” she replied, smiling.
Soon, the students inside the lecture hall slowly came out of the room. A bunch of girls just stare at Abby, and gave the irritated look. Soon, they passed by the couple, and one mentioned something out loud. “Seriously, a slut like her could even get the most popular boy in the campus. I think she have used her body to seduce the lecturer so that he gave her high marks!”
“WHAT THE HELL!?” Tego exclaimed, before he ran towards the girls, and smashed his knuckle against the wall. “Say that again, and I’ll gorge your eyes out,” he sniggered.
The girl was obviously caught off guard, and suddenly burst into tears. Her friends hugged her, and started comforting her. Abby pulled Tego away, and tried to calm him down.
“What’s the commotion!?” a voice was heard, and everybody turned to him. “Ah, Takahisa-san!” everybody turned their vision to him, and they all exclaimed. “Ta…” before someone could even greet him, he glared at Tego, and then turned towards the group of girls that were crying. “What happened?” Masuda asked as he looked at the group of girls. “I… he… Tegoshi-senpai said something mean to me when I didn’t offend him!”
Masuda looked at the group of girls, before he turned back and looked at Tegoshi, with Abby hiding behind him. “Girls, you should just cut off this nonsense, I don’t think Tegoshi-san really did offend you,”
“HE DID!” the girl cried out.
“He said he’ll gorge her eyes out,” another girl said out loud. Masuda shake his head, before he walked towards Abby, and whispered into her ears. “Don’t worry, I got the gist of the story from my spy,”
He stood up, walked towards the girls, and looked at them sternly. “Don’t think I don’t know what you girls did. If you girls continue doing this, I’ll make sure you all are suspended,”
The girls looked at each other before that girl wipe the tears off her cheeks and scoffed off with her other friends behind her. “Thanks you,” Tego said.
“Welcome. I’m Takahisa Masuda, president of the First class councilor board,” the guy said, before nodding his hand, and rising out his hand. Tegoshi went ahead to shake his hand, “Thank you, my name is Tegoshi Yuya, and…” he turned behind, and looked at him. “Her name is Abby Rose Flores,”
Masuda nodded his head, before he looked at Aby and Tegoshi. “Sorry, those girls just don’t know when to stop,” he paused, before he sighed, and continued, “The second class councilor board already had problems with them and send me their file to me already,”
Tegoshi just nodded his head, before he grabbed onto Abby’s hand, thank Masuda for a last time, before exiting the place.
He took the tray, and chose his food, before he walked around to look for a seat. He then caught noticed of that familiar figure, and went over and settled down. “Hi, if I didn’t remember wrongly, your name is Tegoshi Yuya right?”
Tegoshi looked up, and smiled. “Hi,”
“Mind if I sit down here?” he asked, as he looked at Tegoshi. Tegoshi nodded his head, before he bended down to look at his face. Masuda then placed the tray down onto the table, dragged the chair and settled down. “So… how’s Flores-san doing? Did the girls from her class disturbed her anymore?”
Tegoshi smiled, and shake his head. “No, not anymore. Thank you for asking, Masuda-san,”
Masuda just gladly nodded his head. Just then, his phone ringed and he picked it up. Tegoshi continued to gaze outside the cafeteria as he ate his food. “WHAT!?” Masuda shouted out into the phone, as he pushed the table slightly. This made Tegoshi to look at him, and he saw Masuda gripping the edge of the table tightly. He continued observing him as Masuda continued his conservation.
“Where?” he paused, and then looked at his watch. He stopped, before he close the talking hole, and looked at Tegoshi. “Do you drive?” Tegoshi just blinked his eyes for a few times, and nodded his head. Masuda then went back to his phone, and said, “I’ll be right there,”
“Get your ass off, I need your car to drive me to the hospital now,”
Tegoshi’s eyes opened widely. Masuda then gripped him by the arm, and dragged him towards the car park. Masuda then took out his phone, and started to frantically pressed on his phone.
“Hello, Yamashita-san? Can you please take leave from school for me and Tegoshi Yuya from Class 2A-1?”
Tegoshi looked at him with eyes wide. Does this guy know what’s he doing? Taking leave from school just like this…
Tegoshi let go his Masuda’s grip, and walked towards his car. Anyway, he didn’t have the mood for school, so let’s just say, he’ll just skipped school. Tegoshi got into the driver’s seat, while Masuda settled beside him. Masuda was still talking on the phone.
“Thanks, I’ll buy you a drink soon,”
Masuda put the phone down, and looked at Tegoshi. “Tokyo Hospital. You should know where is it right?” Tegoshi just nodded his head, and he quietly drive out of the school.
Without expressing his gratitude to Tegoshi, Masuda just alighted from the car, and hurriedly ran into the hospital. Curious of what happened, Tegoshi parked his car right in front of the hospital, not caring if he’ll get fined or anything like that. He ran after Masuda.
Masuda tapped his feet and waited impatiently for the lift. Taking up to the highest level was the much more tedious thing. He uttered nothing, and Tegoshi just stood beside him, as he look at the red lighting that changes the number every few seconds.
Once the lift door opened, Masuda dashed out. Tegoshi was caught off guard, and he hurriedly followed.
“OBA-SAN!” Masuda shouted, before he appeared in front of a crying old lady, sobbing loudly. “TAKA-CHAN!” she shouted. Masuda ran into her, and grabbed onto her hands, before gritting his teeth. “Wha… What happened?!”
“It’s all my fault! If… If I took care of her better, she wouldn’t… have…” the lady’s voice was obviously trembling. Tegoshi slowly walked over, and the lady caught sight of his existence. Nodding her head, and forcing a smile, Tegoshi went over to greet her.
“Tegoshi-san, please take care of Oba-san for me for now,” Masuda said, before he stood up, and tidied himself up. Slowly, he walked to the door, and fling it opened, before disappearing behind it.
“Ai…” his voice shivered, as he went over to the girl’s side, and held onto her hand. “You alright?” he asked, as he slowly patted her head. The girl’s eyes opened, before looking at the guy in front of her. “Sorry…ne…”
“It’s not your fault…” he mumbled, before kissing her forehead. “Everything is just fine now,”
“Here,” Tegoshi passed a cup of tea over to Masuda who was standing by the balcony. “Thanks,” he replied, before grabbing over the tea and slowly sipping onto it. Masuda gazed out, and seconds later, he sighed. “If you don’t mind, you can talk to me, I’ll try my best,” Tegoshi said, before he took the chair and settled in it. Masuda’s lips curve into a smile.
Masuda slowly told Tegoshi what happened to Aiko. From the day she got into an accident, till now. Everything.
“I feel so useless, and I couldn’t do anything,”
Tegoshi just nodded his head and smile. “I’m sure she doesn’t blame you,”
“The more she doesn’t blame me, the more I feel even guilty! I’m all healthy here and she…” Masuda looked in, before tears started to form at the tip of his eyes. He mumbled some messed-up words, before he squatted down onto the floor.
Somehow, Tegoshi’s heart went out to him, and he kneeled down beside Masuda, before grabbing him into his embrace. Masuda’s heart started pumping non-stop, but that didn’t stop him from crying, because at that moment, the more important thing was worrying about Aiko and nothing more. Or so he thought.
